After 20+ years of providing internal hauling services for area projects, Allen Keller Company decided to revamp their haul department in a way that could better serve transport needs throughout Gillespie and surrounding counties. The goal was to provide a knowledgeable and experienced DOT approved fleet that could partner with all contractors in the Hill Country for their aggregate, asphalt, and construction equipment hauling needs. As a result, Keller Trucking Inc. (KTI) was established as a stand-alone entity.

 

HISTORY

Formerly a division of Allen Keller Company; a leader in the Hill Country road construction and aggregates for over 75 years. KTI is DOT approved and operates a fleet of tandem and tractor trailers. We specialize in hauling aggregates and asphalt for road construction, subdivisions, ranches, multi family, and other construction related projects. In addition, we can haul your construction equipment from project to project.

OUR TEAM

Steve Schaefer Vice President

Steve graduated from Texas A&M University in 1996 with a BS in Civil Engineering.  He also has his MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He has experience working in the aggregate mining industry since 1994.  Steve spent 7 years with Hanson Aggregates as a Project Engineer working on various rail and aggregate production facilities.  After Hanson, Steve spent 18 years with Martin Marietta in various roles including engineering, operations, purchasing, rail and truck logistics.  His current role with KTI is Vice President of Hauling, working to make sure our customers’ needs are taken care of in regards to delivery of construction aggregates and equipment.

Buddy Kramer Hauling Manager

Prior to joining the AKC team in 2007, Buddy had over 35 years’ experience in the construction industry. His experience ranges from equipment operator, truck driver, to owning his own business. He grew up in the Fredericksburg area and has lived in Gillespie County for over 40 years. He enjoys leading the men and women of KTI while they provide a safe and reliable service for all personal and commercial customer needs. 

 

Hector Ortiz Hauling Coordinator

A 2006 Graduate of Comfort High School, Hector went on to work as a welder for various companies. In 2011 he joined the Army and relocated to North Carolina where he served as a US Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.  2015 he moved back to his roots in Texas and was employed as a corrections officer then worked in the oil fields of West Texas and New Mexico.  He came to work as a truck driver for Allen Keller Co. in 2019 where he drove Tandems and Tractor Trailers getting his experience with hauling belly dumps, end dumps, oil tankers and lowboy trailers.  After 18 months he was promoted to Hauling Coordinator to assist the hauling department, keeping trucks on the move and help grow the department into a stand-alone company we now know as KTI.
